P V S Suryakumar

P V S Suryakumar spent nearly four decades at the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, rising to Deputy Managing Director and shaping some of India’s most consequential programmes in agricultural and rural development. He helped conceive and steward JIVA, NABARD’s agroecology programme, designed to build on existing social and natural resource capital in rural communities. His work at NABARD spanned project appraisal, natural resource management, policy advocacy, and institutional development across the country.

Suryakumar holds two master’s degrees from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute and Staffordshire University, is a Commonwealth Scholar and Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance, and has authored books on sustainable agriculture and case writing.
