Veena Joshi

Dr Veena Joshi has continued to work at the intersection of energy, climate action and institutional development since retiring from full-time employment. Over the past decade, she has advised organisations on governance, institutional transitions and strategic programme development; contributed to research and policy work on energy access, resource efficiency and climate action; and mentored professionals working in the development and clean energy sectors. Her engagements have included assignments and advisory roles with organisations such as the World Bank, UNEP, GIZ, TERI, SEWA Bharat and Prayas Energy Group.

Earlier, Veena spent over three decades at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, where she helped shape several of India’s rural and renewable energy programmes, including the Built Environment Efficiency Programme. She began her career at TERI, where her work on energy and technology adoption in rural communities led to a long association with Gram Vikas. She has served on several boards and advisory groups in the energy and development sectors. She holds a PhD in Physics from IIT Kanpur and has been a member of the Gram Vikas Board since 2019.
